Notes and Legend ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ [from '24 Klangbilder - Imagens sonoras' - Carlo Domeniconi (Berlin 1989)] "Esta Klangbild e particularmente interessante para alunos principiantes. [an approximate, fairly literal translation from the Portugese into English] "This Klangbild is particularly interesting for beginner students. It is a piece that develops from the pentatonic scale and is written in two parts: an upper part that presents the melody in parallel with the bass, which must always be played with the thumb. The simultaneous use of fingers 3 and 4 on the same fret is one of the technical aspects addressed in this Klangbild, as well as the balance between upper and lower voices. There is also a small passage of the lower voice in staccato, which is another of the difficulties present here. However, the greatest difficulty is found in measures 13/14 and 17/18: the need to keep the 3rd finger held on the note [C on the 5th string] both times, while playing Bb and F with the 1st and 4th fingers. Another relevant aspect of this study is the use of parallel movements of the fingers (fingers that slide up or down together in the left hand), as is evident in bars 16 and 20." [from the notes accompanying the sheet music - Carlo Domeniconi] "Sound figures are a series of small musical pieces indicating forms which as well are to be found in more complex compositions. Therefore they are not to be understood as fragments or sketches but as 'Images' or 'Figures' preparing most efficiently - because of their shortness and technical facility - the later playing of more complex works." "...although the pieces are very easy to play, they demand a lot of control over dynamic and sound, so there is quite a lot to learn from this work." (Norbert Neunzling) The tempo of the MIDI and the Norbert Neunzling vid is 126 bpm (quarter notes). The sheet music does not have a key signature or a time signature, but the piece is centered around E minor and appears to be in 2/4 time. The order of play is 1-11, 1-10, 12-20, 1-7, 21-22. === - length of note, duration (note held) + - (go to the) coda symbol (al + - go back to the coda symbol) bpm - beats per minute coda - the end section of a piece D.C. - Da Capo - return to the start of the piece poco - a little (poco rall. - slowing down a little) rall. - rallentando - slowing down (sometimes becoming gradually softer) s - staccato - detached, cut off, the note is not held for its full value repeat the section 1____ play the 1st time 2_______ play on repeat |--- ---| |-----------------------| ---|-----------------------| |--- ---| |-----------------------| ---|-----------------------| |*-- --*| |----------------------*| --*|-----------------------| |*-- --*| |----------------------*| --*|-----------------------| |--- ---| |-----------------------| ---|-----------------------| |--- ---| |-----------------------| ---|-----------------------| ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ the latest version of this tab can be found at http://www.classtab.org if you come across any mistakes please let me know - weed@wussu.com
